About Us

Our History 
Established in 1996, Terry Wynter Auto Service began in an eight bay rental property. In May of 2000, the operation moved to its present location and today is a busy 11-bay shop.

Terry's good name and reputation are reflected in the continued success of the auto service center, which employs a highly-qualified staff of technicians and customer service representatives to serve our customers with the highest level of service. The staff of Terry Wynter Auto Service Center provides expert service on all new cars, as well as favorite classic cars. But most importantly, these guys know how to make them run like a charm.

A Well-Run Partnership
Terry Wynter was born in California and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He calls Fort Myers, Florida home. A resident of Fort Myers since 1978, Terry and his wife and business partner, Kay, share a full life and successful business.

Kay Wynter has been in the automotive business ever since founding Terry Wynter Auto Service Center with her husband in 1996. A graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in business administration, Kay spent a number of years working in the esteemed, North Carolina financial industry before moving to Florida and meeting Terry.

One day, while having her car serviced, Kay met Terry. The rest is history. Today, Kay draws on her vast experience in helping to manage shop operations. As the office and business manager, she oversees key business details, and contributes her vital support in many ways to the service team, alongside Terry.
Terry Wynter Auto: A Leader in Car Care
Terry's able leadership, much like his favorite cars, run smoothly and in balance with his seasoned management skills, advanced technological skills, and early wrench experiences. As car technology advanced into the 21st century, Terry worked for many years as a manager for some of the most well known 'big guys' in the automobile service business.

It's not surprising that folks who knew Terry then, now send the younger generation of their families to Terry's shop for car service today. Over the years, Terry Wynter Auto Service Center has earned a solid reputation for delivering the kind of car care service a new customer can always rely on without a doubt. The shop's longtime customers all know the next time their car needs service they are in good hands.

All in all, the shop is a product of Terry's original interest and passion for cars. A passion that he enjoyed when he was very young, when he first took high school shop classes, tuned big engines with his brothers, and raced his fast cars regularly. Proving to be a genuine leader of the pack, Terry, with the support of his staff will keep cars in the growing Fort Myers community running well for years to come.

ASE Blue Seal of Excellence

We earn the Blue Seal of Excellence recognition awarded annually by the ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence). In doing so, we have acknowledged that the backbone of any shop is the competence of its technicians. ASE is well known as the industry-leading certification program for automotive professionals. ASE certification means that an individual has passed tough industry-developed exams and meets experience requirements.

The ASE Blue Seal of Excellence Recognition goes a step further by identifying those establishments that have a large percentage of certified professionals and a certified professional in each area of service offered. It's a commitment that earns only the best establishments the recognition to stand out from the crowd.

ASA Member
Terry Wynter Auto Service is a proud member of the Automotive Service Association (ASA), the largest not-for-profit trade association of its kind dedicated to and governed by independent automotive service and repair professionals. ASA serves an international membership base that includes numerous affiliate, state and chapter groups from both the mechanical and collision repair segments of the automotive service industry.

ASA members adhere to ASA’s Code of Ethics – the automotive service industry’s standard for professional business practices with consumers in mind. In addition to its business name, motorists can also identify ASA member businesses by their red, white and blue ASA sign.

AAA Approved Auto Repair Shop

News and Announcements 

April 2010
The Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association honored Terry Wynter Auto Service Center with an award of distinction for its newly-designed website at the 2010 Image Awards. Terrywynterauto.com was the only website to garner an award at the annual competition, which recognizes outstanding public relations programs in Southwest Florida. Winners demonstrate the very best examples of innovation, planning and design.

“Our new website demonstrates our commitment to customer convenience and we are happy to see it is recognized as an outstanding communication tool,” says owner Terry Wynter.

November 2009
MotorAge magazine named Terry Wynter Auto Service Center among the top ten in the nation for its prestigious Top Shop Awards for 2009. Terry Wynter Auto Service Center was the only Florida shop to qualify for the national recognition and will be featured in the December issue of the magazine.

“I am extremely honored to be named a Top Shop finalist,” says owner Terry Wynter. “We would not be celebrating this incredible honor if it weren’t for my amazing staff and their great team work and commitment to the industry.”

Each year, MotorAge judges auto repair centers throughout the country on the merits of community service, industry participation, customer service, marketing, philosophy and commitment to technology. MotorAge is a monthly trade journal reaching more than 130,000 industry professionals.

August 2009
We received notification again, that Terry Wynter Auto Service Center has passed the stringent qualifications required by the ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) to earn and display the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence in 2009.

The Blue Seal of Excellence is one more important way we work as a team to insure that our customers receive the best auto service available in Southwest Florida.

Terry Wynter was recognized for his dedication to training at the 2009 National ASA Convention. He received an award for being the member with the most training credit hours during 2008 for the entire association. Now that's dedication to training.

February 2009
Terry Wynter was the featured Guest Editorialist in the February 2009 issue of Auto, Inc. magazine. The subject of the article was Terry's philosophy toward the importance of technician training.

August 2008
Terry Wynter Auto Service Center will begin offering Service Intelligence. This program will make vehicle maintenance simple by tracking the date and mileage for services due and make recommendations for each of our customers' vehicles.

May 2008
Terry & Kay Wynter graduated from the Automotive Management Institute with Accredited Automotive Management Certification. This certification is a result of many hours of management training and exemplifies their commitment toward continuous education.

April 2008
Check it out! Terry was quoted in the April 2008 issue of Consumer Reports. This highly esteemed magazine contacted Terry for input concerning an article written about extended automotive warranties.

March 2007
Terry Wynter was selected by the Automotive Service Association to serve on the Mechanical Operations Committee in a national level capacity. Terry will work with nine other shop owners from all over the country on issues which are important to the auto repair industry.

March 2007
Terry Wynter Auto Service Center was approved as an AAA authorized service center. The AAA requirements are stringent and the shop received one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings awarded by AAA.

February 2007
Kay Wynter was selected by A/C Delco to serve on their National Advisory Council. She is the first woman to hold this position in a male dominated organization. The term is for three years and she will consult with the A/C Delco management team concerning marketing, education, product development and many other aspects of the automotive parts industry.

September 2000-NASCAR Legend Visits Shop
In September 2000, legendary racecar driver Bobby Allison, (that's right Bobby Allison, NASCAR Legend) and his film crew used Terry Wynter Auto Service Center shop as the backdrop for a special documentary film. Bobby and his wife visited Southwest Florida and spent some time at the shop while Bobby participated in the production of a short film about how to select an auto repair service team. We think they came to the right place all right!

Public Service Endeavors 
Everyone has something they can offer others that make a difference.

Currently, we are regular contributors to two large organizations, as well as to many other organizations, individual schools, students, local residents and area businesses.
  • The daily effort to fill the unmet needs of people in our local community provided by the Nations Association, led by Rev. Israel Suarez.
  • The programs of the Florida Repertory Theatre, who make their home in the vintage era Arcade Theatre in downtown Fort Myers.
